CWZ fire-resistant armoured cables
- Low Smoke
- Indoor Public Places
Extended performance to preserve electrical integrity in direct fire conditions (as verified in different tests where the cable is exposed to direct fire for 3 hours at 950ºC, direct fire and water spray, and direct fire and mechanical shock simulated by repetitive striking).
Temperature rating: 90ºC maximum.
Voltage rating: 1000V AC.
Construction requirements: As per IEC 60502-1.
Fire requirements: As per IEC 60332-3-24 - Flame-retardancy.
Circuit integrity requirements : As per BS 6387 / IEC 60331-1 / IEC 60331-2 / IEC 60331-21.
BS 6387 standard:
Category C: Direct exposure to fire for 3 hours at 950ºC.
Category W: Direct exposure to fire for 15 minutes at 650ºC + Exposure to water spray for a further 15 minutes.
Category Z: Direct exposure to fire for 15 minutes at 950ºC + Mechanical shock simulated by striking the cable specimen against the backing panel every 30 seconds.
IEC 60331-1/2 standard: Direct exposure to fire for 2 hours at 830ºC +Mechanical shock simulated by striking the cable specimen against the backing panel every 5 minutes.
Conductor requirements: As per IEC 60228 / IRAM NM 280.
Conductor: Annealed electrolytic copper; class 5 stranding.
Insulation: Mica tape plus extruded XLPE.
Conductor tape wrapping: Fire-blocking materiall.
Inner sheath: LSZH (Low Smoke, Zero Halogen).
Armour: Zinc-plated steel wire helical wrap (in multiconductor cables) or double aluminium tape (single-conductor cables).
Outer sheath: Thermoplastic LSZH or thermoset LSZH.
