Through this system a multiple-node net can be interconnected by means of a paired cable, which allows bi-directional communication, significant length of the interconnection cable and high speed data transmission.
Fieldbus distribution circuits; suitable for underground and aerial raceways in RS 485 systems.

Conductor: Annealed tinned electrolytic copper, 7-wire stranding, class B.
Insulation: Thermoplastic compound.
Identification: Colours according to colour coding chart.
Lay length: 50mm (20 twists/m).
Shield: Aluminium-polyester tape plus tinned-copper braid.
Sheath: Grey PVC, fire-retardant, sunlight and hydrocarbon-resistant. Black for SB 2100 series. Grey for SB 9700 and SB 9800 series.
Stripping: Polyamide ripcord under the sheath.

Armour: Zinc-plated steel served-wire helical armour or aluminium interlock armour plus grey PVC sheath; fire-retardant, sunlight and hydrocarbon-resistant.

installation

Connection: Without amplifiers, RS 485 bus  maximum length is 1200 m. Longer extensions require suitable equipment to re-generate and amplify the signal. RS 485 is a serial bus, and, consequently, allows no star or ring installations. Bus cables should not run close to power cables and equipment, as these generate electromagnetic induction, which may lead to system malfunctioning.
Assembly: Minimum bend radius is 7xOD (unarmoured versions) and 12xOD (armoured versions).
Maximum pulling tension: 5 daN/sq mm on copper conductors. Wire-armoured cables can withstand 10daN/sq mm on the armour wires.
Assembly temperature: 5ºC or higher.

Construction: The sheath material is LSZH-HFFR (Low Smoke, Zero Halogen; Halogen-Free, Flame-Retardant). Compliant with IEC 60502-1, IEC 60754-1-2, IEC 61034, NES 713 and CEI 20-37 standards.
